Woven cloth is believed derived from Riau and Sulawesi. It brought to Pahang in the 16th century AD. Bugis introduced by a speaker called the Tuk Tuan (Keraing Aji).
Woven fabric of Pahang has become part of Malaysian culture is used particularly in formal ceremonies and of honor. Tenun Pahang DiRaja is produced according to traditional methods of retain subtlety and get compliment and attention from their own buff either in the country or overseas.Woven fabrics of Pahang are usually used for sarong, sampin and scarf, and now applied in the modern fashion designs parallel with the latest trends and tastes. It is also used by local designer and abroad, especially to the government official, ceremonial marriage and the Royal.
From 1995 untill now government has taken the initiative to to promote and redevelop the Tenun Pahang DiRaja to ensure its always remain the Art Heritage of Pahang.
